Overview
The Ed Kaplan Family Institute for Innovation and Tech Entrepreneurship desires to create opportunities for Illinois Institute of Technology students—regardless of major—to leverage their experience and passion for addressing the challenges facing our communities, with a focus on supporting our many community and industry partners in Chicago.
What is an Industry and Community Lab?
Focused on the right problems and guided by research and industry experience, our Industry and Community Labs experiment with, identify, and define areas where design research, entrepreneurship, business development, and innovative approaches to STEM education can be leveraged to create equitable outcomes.
Each lab exposes students to an unmet need derived by one of our many community and industry partners. Students will be split up into teams where they will each work together to generate a solution to satisfy said unmet need. Teams will be guided throughout by faculty from across the university, as well as professionals from industry.
