July 16, 2024: The MMAE Department is delighted to announce that Boris S. Pervan, Professor of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering and Director of CARNATIONS, has been named the Frank Gunsaulus Faculty Fellow in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at Illinois Tech. Provost Kenneth T. Christensen wrote: “Honorific titles like this are reserved for the top echelon of faculty at our institution, and we are proud to recognize your sustained professional excellence in all realms of your scholarly activities by bestowing this honorific title upon you.”

December 11, 2023: Congratulations to MMAE Laboratory Manager, Russ Janota, for receiving an Illinois Institute of Technology 2023 Staff Excellence Award. Student Accomplishments
April 29, 2024: Illinois Tech's branch of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics has awarded Elizabeth A. Karagiannes the 2023-24 Scholastic Achievement Award. This monetary award is presented to the Illinois Tech aerospace engineering student with the highest GPA, contributions to undergraduate research, and leadership in university's student organizations.
October 19, 2023: Congratulations to King Ankobea-Ansah (M.S. MAE '22, Ph.D. MAE Candidate) for receiving the 2023/24 Yanmar/SAE Scholarship, which is given to one student annually. In addition to the $1,000 scholarship award, Ankobea-Ansah will receive a free one-year Society of Automotive Engineers student membership.
April 19, 2023: Illinois Tech’s Material Advantage chapter and the Chicago chapter of the American Society for Materials co-organized a student poster competition. Students from Illinois Institute of Technology, the University of Illinois Chicago, and Northwestern University participated in the competition. Congratulations to the following winners:
