Leadership Symposium header

Innovation, insights, and inclusiveness are the qualities of a true leader and we at Illinois Tech recognize and fervently celebrate these traits. Nurturing emerging talents who have the potential to lead and make impactful changes has always been a central point of everything we do at Illinois Tech. Leadership Symposium is our initiative to help you, our future innovators, connect with a community that shares your dedication to these principles and adds to your visionary ideas.

Being a member of these prestigious scholarships is more than a financial resource, it’s diving into exciting networking opportunities with peers and pioneering thinkers. By choosing to be our Early Action or Early Decision candidate, the scholarship groups are your community of pride— a community that enriches ideas and works on building an environment of growth and learning.

Leadership Symposium will be back on 6-7 February 2025.

What is the Leadership Symposium?

Leadership Symposium is an exclusive event planned for Early Decision and Early Action admits. As part of the evaluation process for the Camras, Crown, Duchossois Leadership, M. A. Lila Self Leadership Academy, and Emerging Campus Leader scholarships, nominees are invited to Illinois Tech’s campus to meet current scholars, faculty, and their future peers!

Illinois Tech students recall Leadership Symposium as one of the highlights during their college search process as the event provides future scholars the opportunity to make friends, tour the campus, and talk with faculty and future classmates about topics they care about.

Date: Thursday, February 8 and Friday, February 9, 2024

Venue: Mies Campus

Leadership Symposium is invitation-only. Those who apply by the Early Action I deadline of November 15, 2023, will be considered for eligibility to attend Leadership Symposium through the Camras Scholarship. If you apply for the Crown, Duchossois Leadership, M. A. Lila Self Leadership Academy, or Emerging Campus Leader scholarships, you will also be considered for eligibility.

Scholarship recipients are determined based upon a combination of the merit that was shown in their application, as well as their performance during the interview process at the Leadership Symposium. The Office of Undergrad Admission will look for qualities of leadership such as strong communication skills, collaboration, respecting all voices, content knowledge, critical thinking, and the ability to adapt to different situations. Ultimately, the scoring process is holistic in nature and several factors are considered.
