Effective August 14, 2020, Illinois Institute of Technology will utilize an updated Title IX policy that complies with the new federal requirements for resolving Title IX Sexual Harassment complaints. Under the new rules, there is more prescribed guidance, but there is greater flexibility for resolving complaints, including facilitated communications.
Filing a Formal Title IX Complaint
A Formal Title IX Complaint is defined as a written statement signed by an individual who experienced sexual harassment and must be filed with the Title IX Coordinator, Virginia Foster—who can be reached at 312.567.5725 or foster@iit.edu—in person, by mail, or by email. At the time of filing a Formal Complaint, a Complainant must be participating in or attempting to participate in the education program or activity of Illinois Tech.
Illinois Tech must keep confidential the identity of any individual who has made a report or complaint of sexual discrimination. When an exception is applicable, Illinois Tech will use its best efforts not to disseminate identifying information beyond those who have a need to know, which generally may include the parties and the Title IX team members.
